Why apply

Why DPIIT recognition is worth having.

01

A tax holiday

Recognised startups can apply for a three-year income-tax exemption under section 80-IAC, subject to eligibility.

02

Angel-tax relief

Recognition is the route to exemption from angel tax on the premium you raise from investors.

03

Easier compliance

Self-certification on labour and environmental laws, and simpler norms for winding up if it doesn’t work out.

04

Funding & tenders

Access to government funds of funds, and relaxed criteria in public tenders that usually favour established firms.

How it works

Recognised in three moves.

STEP 01

We check eligibility

Your entity type, age and what makes the business innovative or scalable. We confirm you qualify before filing.

STEP 02

We write & file

A clear description of your product and its innovation, filed with the recognition application on the portal.

STEP 03

You get recognised

Your DPIIT certificate — and we help you apply for the 80-IAC and angel-tax benefits you now qualify for.

Answers

Startup India, answered.

Is my company eligible?+
Broadly, a private limited company, LLP or registered partnership up to ten years old, with turnover under the prescribed limit, working on an innovative or scalable product or service. We assess your specifics against the current criteria before applying.
Does recognition give me the tax holiday automatically?+
No — DPIIT recognition is the first step. The section 80-IAC tax holiday is a separate application to an inter-ministerial board, and angel-tax exemption has its own conditions. We guide you through both after recognition.
How long does recognition take?+
Once the application and description are filed correctly, recognition is usually granted within a couple of weeks. A weak or vague write-up is the main reason applications are queried, which is why we draft it carefully.
Do I need to be incorporated first?+
Yes — you need a registered company, LLP or partnership before applying. If you haven’t incorporated yet, we can set up the right structure and then file for recognition.
