Which is the cheapest state to register a company in India?
On government charges, the cheapest states to incorporate in are Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand — mainly because they levy very low incorporation stamp duty. Our professional fee is the same nationwide, so the difference is almost entirely the state stamp duty.
Does it matter which state I register my company in?
For the registration process itself, no — it is a central MCA filing. What changes by state is the stamp duty on your MoA and AoA, whether the state charges professional tax on salaries, and the subsidy schemes you can claim. Most businesses register in the state where they actually operate.
Which states have no professional tax?
States that do not levy professional tax on salaries include Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and others. Odisha abolished it with effect from 1 April 2026. This means one less monthly payroll deduction and return.
Can I register a company in a state where I don’t live?
Yes. You need a registered-office address in that state (commercial or residential), but you don’t need to live there or visit — the whole process is online, and we handle it end to end from our office.
